
Stanbic Bank Supports the Ark Foundation on Mothers’ Day
Stanbic Bank Ghana has donated an amount of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS20,000) to the Ark Foundation Ghana, a non-profit organization that focuses on the protection of abused women and children.
Presenting the cheque to the Foundation, the 2022 Stanbic Woman of the Year, Jacqueline Osei-Kusi noted that the donation is in line with the Bank’s commitment to the #HeForShe movement, which obligates the Bank to take make a stand against gender-based violence, and support those who have fallen victim to the social canker. s thereof.
“Our message this mothers’ day is that focusing on the struggle to end gender-based violence does not have to be a conversation that is hopeless. We believe that taking positive action is more important than simply contemplating how truly awful this problem is. in silence.
That is ’s why we’re supporting the activities of a foundation which has over the years not only highlighted the problem of gender-based violence, but also plotted a way forward; ways for us to unlearn, relearn, grow, and overcome cycles of abuse to produce future generations of happier, healthier adults who have no desire to control or hurt others,” she said
Jacqueline, who is also the Regional Manager for Accra North and Western Cluster at Stanbic Bank expressed her profound appreciation to the leadership Director and Staff of the shelter for what they are doing for Mother Ghana, Women, Children, and the continent at large.
“We are extremely hopeful our partnership with the Ark Foundation will go a long way to create accessible solutions and demonstrable power of actions to ensure that tomorrow is better than today. As a reliable member of this society, we hope to make a difference in the lives of victims of gender-based violence. We believe that the victims will eventually reintegrate seamlessly into the society and contribute their quota towards nation building through the support offered by the Ark Foundation and its partners. This would help drive Ghana’s growth, which is our brand purpose,” Jacqueline intimated.
Mrs Angela Dwamena Boakye, the Executive Director of the Ark Foundation, who received the cheque, thanked Stanbic Bank for the gesture, and called on corporate Ghana to emulate same.
“We are very grateful to the staff and management of Stanbic Bank for positively responding to our call for support. Your pledge to continually support dedicated efforts to promote for gender equality and women’s empowerment is very much appreciated”, she said.
Services provided by the Ark Foundation include counselling, domestic violence intervention, sexual and gender violence intervention, social support, family legal aid and advisory support, trauma prevention and support, mental health support services shelter, rehabilitation, resettlement and reintegration, advocacy, education and training.
