Stanbic Bank Honours 200 Laptops Pledge to KNUST

Stanbic Bank Ghana on Thursday Feb 11, 2021 presented 100 laptops to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to support underprivileged students.

The donation, according to Mawuko Afadzinu, Head Marketing and Communications at Stanbic Bank is to afford brilliant but needy students real opportunities to excel in their studies irrespective of where lectures take place, change their personal and family circumstances, and possibly their communities and the country at large.

“We are extremely pleased to partner KNUST and bring the confluence of our abilities together to impact lives. This partnership we are positive, will have a transformational effect beyond what we perceive today; not only are we influencing individuals, but also their orbits and communities.

“One of the worrying concerns we have observed, is creating hope and opportunities for the youth, which is indeed the bane of many countries. That is why Stanbic Bank is happy to team up with like-minded people/institutions to persecute this agenda (which is in keeping with our brand promise of facilitating dreams”, said Mawuko Afadzinu.

Vice Chancellor of the KNUST, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, who received the laptops expressed gratitude to Stanbic Bank for the gesture and promised that the laptops would be used for the exact purpose for which they were bought.

“The new University Management is committed to turning brilliant minds into future leaders. And this we know, is mainly achievable through leveraging available partnerships; we are very grateful to Stanbic for positively responding to our call for support and advancing the dreams of the brilliant ones who hitherto couldn’t access online teaching and learning,” Prof Akosua Dickson said.

The100 laptops, are the first batch of 200 pieces that were pledged by the Bank in November 2020, to be delivered over a four-year period and valued at ¢800,000.00.
This complements Stanbic Bank’s numerous interventions aimed at supporting education in the country.
